LIVEINSLUMS is an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization), an ONLUS ASSOCIATION and a RESEARCH AGENCY

We carry out international cooperation projects and development programs in the slums of the world, in critical conditions, and in informal settlements not recognized in terms of rights.

We believe that in these areas, where poverty, emergence and discrimination are often concentrated, great resources can be found for the economic, human and social growth of cities. For this reason, in the contexts in which we work we recognize the communities as relevant actors of the transformation processes, bearers of useful knowledge for the definition of the local context, of the logics of action, of the resources available.

We carry out URBAN REGENERATION projects on various levels, involving professional figures belonging to different disciplinary fields: architects, agronomists, landscapers, sociologists, anthropologists, environmental engineers, zootechnics, documentarians, photographers, designers and artists.

All our projects are in fact united by a methodology that foresees the development of a preliminary scientific research and the involvement of specific professional figures to guarantee for the project a quality of the interventions.


Our main areas of intervention in Italy and in the world are:

ARCHITECTURE (construction of schools, kindergartens, civic centers, laboratories, light structures for poultries, prototypes for the homeless, training LAB for the use of traditional techniques of constructions) 

LANDSCAPE AND URBAN REQUALIFICATION

URBAN AGRICULTURE (creation of gardens, training centers to learn the different agricultural techniques, vertical gardens, microjardins with hydroponic culture) 

PHITODEPURATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING (creation of phytodepuration system plants, water wells, management of water resources, river embankment)

WORKSHOPS AND CARPENTARY

We monitor the areas of intervention since the total autonomy of management of the beneficiaries, in order to guarantee human growth and the sustainability of the projects. We take care of communication and documentation of projects, as well as carrying out research that facilitates understanding of the human and social context of our areas of intervention.We organize workshops in collaboration with Universities, Masters and Research Institutes, giving the possibility to young professionals to actively participate in our projects together with the communities on the field.
